I’ve been writing, rewriting, thinking and over thinking. Erasing, rewinding and deleting on the past few days. All because I kept thinking everything was not enough for you. Was not enough to celebrate this beautiful day. And I still think there is not a single thing in the world that would be enough to show how much I appreciate the chance you’re giving me to share this with you, to be part of it.

This probably sounds way too cheesy, but I really don’t care. Not today.

Since I was a kid I considered birthdays special dates, it’s the date you can do whatever you feel like doing, or not doing, and people won’t argue with you. It’s the one date you are actually free to choose whatever you wanna do, whoever you wanna be. It’s the one date that you are the only person that matters. You, and only you are your own world. So please, enjoy it. Forget everyone and everything and enjoy this day. It’s all yours, no one has the right to take it away from you. And if someone even dare to try, oh, screw them. You’re better than that, you’re bigger.

As a friend, your day is also my day.

It’s my day to make you happy. It’s my day to make you feel special. It’s my day to love you until you get tired of it. It’s my day to spoil you so much you’d have to tell me to stop. It’s my day to do every and anything you ask me to, just don’t get too excited because I’m not much of this person and you know it.

You have no idea of how much I wish I was there with you. I wish I could hug you a lot, even though it’s not something I am willing to do always. I wish I could drink with you, even though I shouldn’t be drinking at all. I wish I could give your gifts, all of them, even the ones I don’t have with me anymore. I wish I could be there. Just be there.

So enjoy it for me, and as soon as I can, I will surprise you with a visit. With a belated birthday visit.
